Convert CSV to QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect)

QuickBooks Desktop's Web Connect import only reads .qbo files — it won't take the CSV your bank exports. This tool maps your CSV columns, validates every row, and produces a .qbo file QuickBooks accepts.

How to convert CSV to QBO

  1. Drop in the CSV you downloaded from your bank.
  2. Check the automatic column mapping and date format — fix anything that looks off.
  3. Review the preview: duplicates and problem rows are flagged.
  4. Set your account type and account number, then download the .qbo file.
  5. In QuickBooks Desktop: File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use with bank data?

Yes — the conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your file is never uploaded to a server, so your financial data never leaves your computer.

QuickBooks says it can't verify the financial institution — what do I do?

QuickBooks validates the INTU.BID field in the file against Intuit's bank directory. The default (3101) works for most imports; if yours is refused, expand the export settings and enter your bank's Intuit ID.

Will importing twice create duplicate transactions?

Each transaction gets a unique FITID, and QuickBooks skips FITIDs it has already imported. The converter also flags likely duplicates inside your file before you export.
